I don't understand. I guess this is for "professionals"? Why would I PAY for this when Play On Linux with WIN works just as well for free? I thought the entire premise of using Open Source Software was to get away from licensing, payments and the like. I guess its a persons prerogative, if they find it easier this way to get their work done but to me its pointless to pay for something for two years and then have to pay again when the time-frame has run out.
Better I think, it is to learn the open source alternative for whatever app it is you're trying to use....I'm just sayin'

What your paying for is Support, and CrossOver is a more polished version of Wine. The money also goes to help support Wine development, to help fund Wine conferences, to help pay for the servers that give out free Wine.

Example, lets say you play X game and they push out a update and it breaks the game, with free Wine your stuck until its fixed by the community or the fix from CodeWeavers reaches Wine. With CrossOver you get the fix as soon as possible and support.

Don't get me wrong I like Wine, Wine-Staging, POL/POM, Wine-Bottler etc etc etc as much as anyone, but if you want ease of use with tech support and to help fund future development then CrossOver is your best option.

I have tried a number of times to use Wine and for me it was a frustrating experience. I downloaded the Crossover trial and it worked immediately and easily. I was more than happy to pay for it.
