How do I use this? Can you give me some pointers?
Hello Michael,
Download the Wine Staging 2.0 x86 64 bit installer and then install it, you will need to run wine from a terminal and point wine to the .exe that you want to run.
Hello Tom,
The tar.gz file has been correctly installed (in my $HOME/wine64) and this directory has been added to $PATH : when I execute 'type wine' from a terminal, I have wine64/bin/wine
The 7z1604-x64.exe file has been downloaded in $HOME.
When I launch 'wine 7z1604-x64.exe' from a terminal, I have the following result :
fixme:winediag:start_process Wine Staging 2.6 is a testing version containing experimental patches.
fixme:winediag:start_process Please mention your exact version when filing bug reports on winehq.org.
fixme:file:SetDefaultDllDirectories (c00): stub
And a window appears with the essage : The installation requires Windows x64
Any idea ?
Hello Eddy,
Can you try installing the 32-bit version of 7-Zip and see if it installs correctly?
Hello Tom,
It's ok for the 32-bit version (of 7-zip)
I updated this page and now link to the latest Wine Staging release, version 2.21 , When you have some free time you should upgrade to the 2.21 release. Their was a tonne of fixes between the 2.6 and 2.21 release.
Cheers,
Tom
Thanks for the update.
Unfortunately, even with this release, the result is always the same : The installation requires Windows x64
