Doesn't work for me... I just tried, and all I got was:
---
wine: Call from 0x7bc61c35 to unimplemented function msvcrt.dll.__CxxFrameHandler3, aborting
err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 620 bytes in thread 0009 eip b7cde743 esp 00240d94 stack 0x241000-0x350000

I use wine 0.9.46 and mfc42.dll from Vista. But it complains about msvcrt.dll, and adding this (also from Vista) and using winecfg to use it (native) still does not work (crashes wine, though).

Fantastic! Just installed this on my PClinuxOS machine! I love this app, and I'm glad to see someone has taken the time to make this work on Linux and share how they did it. So far, it works great for me!

Ah, the DLL, that's why it wouldn't work.
I shall try again, thank you for posting this.

Thanks for posting, works great. I'm a big fan of irfanview and I'm glad I can use it in linux as well. Used the dll straight from winXP.

Thanks for this long-overdue blog. I've been using Irfanview in Wine/Linux for years and have not yet found a better open-source substitute.
Especially useful, as I have little time and less skill, is the thumbnail-page maker with html links (use the 'copy' option to be safe).
Irfanview might not be 'free' in the Linux sense but such an excellent, compact and fast bit of cost-free software has been unparalleled for at least ten years.
