CODEWEAVERS' SOFTWARE FREE FOR DOWNLOAD THANKS TO GEORGE W. BUSH AND FALLING GAS PRICES

Giveaway Triggered in CodeWeaver's Great American Lame Duck Presidential Challenge; "We take full responsibility for global economic collapse," says CEO

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (October 27, 2008) – The catastrophic cratering of the global economy, falling gas prices and President George W. Bush's recent executive activities have indirectly prompted Saint Paul gadfly software developers CodeWeavers, Inc., to provide free software for every American on Oct. 28, company officials reluctantly announced today.

In July, CodeWeavers – whose software lets Mac OS X and Linux users run Windows programs without having to Microsoft for a Windows OS license – launched the Great American Lame Duck Presidential Challenge (lameduck.codeweavers.com) to encourage President Bush to make the most of his remaining days in office by accomplishing a major economic or political goal by January 20, 2009.

Wine Weekly News: Issue 353 http://www.wine-reviews.net/wine-reviews/wine-weekly-news/wine-weekly-news-issue-353.html ]]> Wine Weekly News Sat, 11 Oct 2008 22:49:36 -0500 Benchmarking Wine 1.1.2 on FreeBSD 7.0 http://www.wine-reviews.net/wine-reviews/benchmarks/benchmarking-wine-112-on-freebsd-70.html I installed some benchmarks into Wine 1.1.2 on FreeBSD and gave them another run today to see what gains I would see over the last benchmarks that I ran. The last time the benchmarks were run on FreeBSD 7.0 Beta 2 and Nvidia driver Version: 100.14.19 that was edited so it would install and run on FreeBSD 7 bets 2.
This time Ive ran five benchmarks 3DMark 2000v1.1, 3DMark2001SE, 3DMark2003, LightsMark 2008, and 3DMark2006. I have a copy of CX Games 7.0.0 for BSD installed and plan to test it's performance verses vanilla Wine. Also you'll notice ive ran LightsMark 2008 this time around. and the cool thing is there is now a Linux version of this Benchmark. In the future I plan to run it on Linux native and then with Wine to see just where Wine stands.

FoxMail 6.5 on Linux and BSD http://www.wine-reviews.net/wine-reviews/applications/foxmail-65-on-linux-and-bsd.html Foxmail description

Foxmail is a compact, yet very powerful email program with many useful features and a pleasant interface. Foxmail supports POP3 accounts as well as Hotmail accounts and offers support for HTML email, mailbox encryption, multiple accounts and more. Foxmail also comes with a WYSIWIG tool to compose nice looking HTML emails from templates or scratch. The program also offers filter options, allowing you to act upon incoming mail that meets certain criteria - you can delete messages, forward them, auto-respond to them and more based on keywords appearing in the subject, address, text etc.

The Express Send feature enables you to send mail directly to the recipient, using the built in SMTP server, thereby bypassing your ISP. Foxmail includes many other features, including a remote mail viewer to manage mail on the server, as well as a small scroll ticker that displays message subjects as they arrive in your inbox. It is probably one of the most capable email programs you can find and an excellent alternative to Outlook Express (can import Outlook messages).

Bordeaux 1.6 beta 1 for FreeBSD and PC-BSD http://www.wine-reviews.net/wine-reviews/bordeaux/bordeaux-16-beta-1-for-freebsd-and-pc-bsd.html
We also have a newly built .pbi for PC-BSD 7, a big thanks goes out to the folks at PC-BSD for doing the packaging for us. If you use PC-BSD you will need to install Wine 1.1.4 from their PBI directory in order for Bordeaux to work, prior versions of Wine in the directory don't have support for wineprefixcreate.

Some of the major changes in this build are activex, flash and java are automatically installed for you when IE 6 is installed. Now IE 6 should open most pages that require activex support. We have the back end of the new cellar-manager mostly done now, to see what changes are planed just run cellar-manager --help and you will see a list of all the planed features. This version also incorporates the newest winetricks script and the updates that have been made to it over the past couple months. and of course lots of tweaks and bug fixes.
